Last weekend we went North of Harrisburg and met up with a dozen other old farts and grafted about 60 pecan and hickory scions to hickory root stock.

It's a little weird going to George's farm...it's in a development now. Weird.

Anyway, if the grafts take, we'll dig up the trees next year and sell them for $15 each and give the profits to our organization - the Pennsylvania Nut Grower' Association www.pnga.net . My Mrs came along and grafted some trees too.

They did the same thing last year and I helped dig up the results this spring. The trees I bought are doing ok, and someday I'll be eating pecans grown in PA! If I live that long and the deer don't eat the trees.
